We hope that you will join other MAX members for this amazing tour of Chinatown and its history! You will see and learn many things that most SF citizens and tourists never experience.
Our guide, Bob Yeargin, has 20+ years of experience in leading these tours. (And, yes, he does speak both English and Mandarin :-) On the tour we will see, among other things, several alleys, the fortune cookie factory on Ross Alley, the Tin How temple on Waverly Place, markets on Stockton Street, all accompanied with a discussion of the history, culture and architecture of Chinatown.
Following the tour, we also hope you will join us (optionally) for a Dim Sum luncheon at the City View Restaurant on Commercial Street. As is common for Dim Sum, each table (which probably holds 8+ people) will order food to share and then share the cost of their food and beverages. A very traditional end to a very exciting day!
Meeting at Portsmouth Square at 737 Washington St, San Francisco, CA 94108, at Washington and Kearny streets. It is about ½ mile from the Montgomery Street MUNI/BART station, there are busses that run up Kearny, and there is also garage parking in the area. Our group will be meeting up on the square next to the flag pole and elevator. (Someone will be holding a “MAX” sign so you don’t end up in the wrong tour :-)
The optional Dim Sum luncheon will be at the City View Restaurant at 662 Commercial St, San Francisco, CA 94111.
